IT Manager, HR Systems

Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for overseeing the streamlined operation of the Information Technology (IT) Accounting/Finance/Human Resources (HR) Systems team. This position’s principal goals are to maintain and manage HR Systems application portfolios and provide IT support for all related processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

  • Authorize and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of all software applications supporting Tractor Supply Company’s (TSC) Human Resource department including the following applications: ADP, Success Factors, Kronos, Concur, iCIMS and the FLX app (Gura on the Go).

  • Coordinate with specified business unit teams to understand requirements and provide IT solutions.

  • Manage the staffing of the IT HR Systems teams, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions.

  • Participate in IT department operational and tactical planning, including business requirements and project planning, as well as organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.

  • Perform as the primary point of interface between technology teams, support teams, and business units

  • Define and communicate project milestones, service level agreements, and resource allocation to IT management, department leads, support staff, and end users.

  • Review performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.

  • Provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance TSC’s HR system functionality.

  • Conduct research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, project management, and software development life cycle (SDLC) standards, purchasing, and service provision.

  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the department leaders, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.

  • Manage and support interfaces from SaaS and on-premise HR systems

  • Lead the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables that align with business goals in collaboration with management and stakeholders.

  • Review requirements, design documents and sign off on the deliverable to ensure quality product on projects and enhancements.

  • Prepares status reports and deliverables/presentations

  • Manage the team on projects to produce deliverables per task due date and ensure timely completion of projects.

  • Conducting meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings.

  • Ensure solutions meet business needs and requirements.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 8 or more years of experience managing, implementing, and supporting large HRIS systems such as SAP, Success Factors, PeopleSoft, Reflexis and Kronos. Retail experience is preferred. IT management experience including leading a team of direct reports is preferred. Experience in overseeing configuration, development, upgrades, and implementation of software.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Business Administration, or related technical field is preferred. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities

  • Strong functional knowledge of Human Resources business processes such as payroll processing, workforce management, leave, performance management, recruitment etc...

  • Good understanding of SDLC methodology

  • Familiarity with SQL, Business Intelligence tools, including Cognos, Business Objects, Tableau and Altryx.

  • Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.

  • Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures, and project lifecycle models.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to communicate ideals in both a technical and user-friendly language.

  • Ability to conduct research into application development issues and products.

  • Detail-oriented.

  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively.

  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
